Since graduating from the University of Paris I-Sorbonne and the Ecole de Sciences Politiques de Paris, Mr. Abraham has worked in both the Council of State and as the head of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also headed the French delegation to the General Assembly of the United Nations. He has represented France before several international courts, including the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. His newly completed term of office has once more demonstrated that the evolution and future of the legal profession can be discerned within European and international regulatory bodies. The CAEI, chaired since 2012 by Former Bar President Bertrand Debosque, has done everything in its power to ensure that French lawyers are present and heard in debates that take place outside of France. This would not have been possible without the new bonds that were forged with our foreign counterparts, and without the active participation of the French bars, now working together with the CNB to pursue an international policy that emphasizes our outlook on the future of the profession and its fundamental values. Presentation of CNB Awards to the Permanent Secretary of OHADA and the Burundi Bar Association (October 30-31 2014, Montpellier, France)
The 6th French National Convention of Lawyers in Montpellier brought together more than 5,000 participants, including approximately 100 representatives of European and international delegations from over 40 countries, thereby making this event the largest gathering of lawyers in France. On this occasion, the CNB decided to present the "Lawyers, Architects of the Economy" award to Dorothé Sossa, Permanent Secretary of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa (OHADA), to mark its success, working hand in hand with lawyers for over 20 years, to strengthen legal security on the African continent. A second award, "Lawyers, Architects of Democracy," presented to the independent bar of Burundi, was accepted by its president, Gabriel Sinarinzi, in the presence of its deposed president, Isidore Rufyikiri, to honor the courage and determination of Burundian lawyers in the face of the pressures and threats they are subject to in the practice of their profession ...
